There is a common attitude that work is inherently bad or a necessary evil. Sometimes this is rooted in a reading of Genesis that emphasizes the curse on Adam’s toil. Work can certainly become oppressive. But God and people were working before Adam and Eve’s fall, and work can be redeemed through the effects of the Gospel in our lives.
