Title: So That You May Believe
Speaker: Dave Everson
Thomas refused to believe Jesus was risen until he could see and touch Jesus in person. Because of that, Thomas is often held up as a warning against doubt. But the truth is, none of Jesus' friends and followers expected him to rise. None were looking for him. None hoped he might appear. None believed until he appeared to them. What Thomas' story can teach us instead is that doubt is a normal part of following Jesus. Thomas' story offers a way for doubters to endure their doubt. And a way for believing communities to care for those among them who doubt.
