1. Community Forum with NYS Education Department

The Rochester City School District is hosting a community forum on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM at East High School with State Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia, Board of Regents Vice Chancellor T. Andrew Brown, Regent Wade Norwood and Distinguished Educator Dr. Jaime Aquino to discuss the findings of Dr. Aquino’s report on the Rochester City School District. The forum will include a presentation followed by questions from the public. If you have not had a chance to hear directly from leaders regarding the Distinguished Educator’s report, here’s a great opportunity!

2. City Council Forums on Draft Police Accountability Board Legislation

Learn about and comment on proposed legislation to create a police accountability board in RochesterJanuary 23rd, 5:30pm -7:00pm at Frederick Douglass R-Center, 999 South AvenueJanuary 28th, 5:30pm -7:00pm at Danforth R-Center, 200 West AvenueJanuary 31st, 5:30pm -7:00pm at City Hall Atrium, 30 Church Street

Last week the Rochester City Council released draft legislation to the community that would create a Police Accountability Board. With the release of the document, the City Council promised the community that there would be opportunity for public review and comment.The Council has scheduled three public forums, one on the Eastside, one on the Westside and one in the Center City in an effort to make the forums more accessible for all residents. The forums will be from 5:30pm -7:00pm and advance sign up is not required.If anyone would like to provide feedback and are unable to attend the public forums, please send comments in writing to council@cityofrochester.gov.
